Following a reactor re-load we have excess fresh catalyst, as actual loading density was lower than expected. What can we do with the excess catalyst?

You have the following options with your excess fresh catalyst: (i) Return it to the supplier for a refund in cash or trade credits, (ii) put it in the warehouse for future change-out or (iii) sell it to a catalyst trading company. Returns of fresh catalyst loading are sometimes refused if bags or drums have been opened, so be sure not to open them unless the product will be needed for loading. Make sure packaging is not damaged or marked and ensure that the catalyst supplier has indicated willingness to take back surplus catalyst as part of the sale agreement. Also note that some suppliers limit the period of time within which the surplus catalyst may be returned from date of delivery or date of reactor loading, so contact the supplier as soon as possible to discuss returning surplus catalyst.
